The cost-benefit approach to medical information systems evaluation

In this paper previous cost-benefit type of evaluation studies, theories and frameworks are widely reviewed. Different frameworks and theories of information systems science, health economics and medical informatics have been mixed and brought into area of medical information systems science where they have been lacking. The objective of this study is to clarify the rationale behind analysing the costs and benefits in these different research areas, and to present cost-benefit approach in the context of evaluation framework of medical information system.
